Talking to your Kids About Sex
My name is Traci Lester and I have been blessed to work in the pregnancy care ministry for over 20 years. I am so humbled that the Lord has allowed me to join alongside of Him in offering hope and encouragement to women facing crisis pregnancies. Even better, over those years, I have been privileged to be invited to speak to youth groups and organizations to challenge thousands of teenagers to embrace God’s design for sex by waiting until marriage. I just love those kids! But, here’s the thing. I truly believe that if we really want to change the hearts and minds of young people, parents are the key to the whole thing. And we need to start talking to our kids when they are young, from preschool to puberty.
I want to encourage parents to set aside their embarrassment and instead embrace their role as the most qualified sex educator to their child. I am the author of the book Teaching the Birds and the Bees without the Butterflies. A Stress-Free Guide for Parents on How to Talk to Young Children about Sex from a Christian Perspective.
I am also the co-founder of a Reliant Tree. Reliant Tree has launched the Cling to Life campaign and assists pregnancy centers by developing exciting and trendy campaigns designed to bring funding and awareness to the sanctity of human life. I am blessed to work with an amazing partner, Emily Valenti, who claims to be the other half of my brain. (Between you and me, she’s more like 75%.) If you get a chance, check out the new “Let It Develop” campaign circulating throughout the United States.
I have been married to the same wonderful man for 27 years and am the mother of four of the most beautiful people I know.
